About

I'm Nyxie a 33 year old Transwoman whose passion lies in storytelling! The most important things to me in ttrpgs are fun, roleplay, and story (including player characters' backstories, not just plot). I've been DMing for about 15 years and playing D&D for about 20. I love running modules and having the players add onto the setting with locations, plot hooks, NPCs, deities, whatever they (reasonably) want to add! New players always welcome! Being LGBTQ+ myself, obviously this table loves and welcomes LGBTQ+ players! Do not expect a rules lawyer here; the rules are here for me to use as a base, something to fall back on, but ultimately we're here to have fun and do cool things. Rules can and will be waived or bent in my games - but only in the favor of the players, never to try and put you at a disadvantage. I'm here to challenge the player characters and be their guide through the world they explore. Sure, the dice gods may demand a death every once in a blue moon, but I'm 100% the party's biggest fan.

Gaming Style

At the end of the day for me, TTRPG is about the characters and the stories the players want to tell about said characters. I think the roleplay is essential to any game, to keep it moving, but that it doesn't necessarily have to come in the form of In-Character Dialogue, because not everyone is always comfortable with the Expected Performance aspect; "my character does this," or "my character says something along the lines of..." are perfectly acceptable at my table. However, In-Character Conversations are strongly encouraged, even if you think it might derail the session; in both real life and the fantasy world, communication is key. Combat though can also progress a story and also keeps players on their toes. My combats definitely range in difficulty-- some you could consider as a joke, while others, the smartest decision would be to flee. I won't lie, from time to time, I might make edits and additions to stat blocks to reevaluate the challenge rating, prevent metagaming, or just generally add some more flavor to a monster. I will say, plenty of the combat situations I may throw your way can also be solved diplomatically. Unfortunately, I am not a professionally trained voice actor in any measure, but I sure do try my best to do character voices, though the accents might not always be consistent; characters are about attitude and personality, right? I like to set the scene, sometimes a bit more elaborately than is needed, but don't worry, perception checks will be called for as well.

Game experience

I have used role playing games as my escape for over 20 years now. I’ve been a dungeon master for about 10 years. I have found that they can be a great way to learn social skills, work on team building skills, and build empathy.
